Built for earthquakes, triggered by any shaking.
Put your phone on the floor before you sleep. If the floor shakes, the alarm wakes you.
It hears the shaking that reaches your room. It cannot see one coming.
Before you rely on it
- The screen must stay on all night. A web page gets no motion readings once the screen is off, and we cannot change that. Keep the phone charging.
- A truck, a slammed door and a small earthquake can look the same to one phone on one floor. This will wake you for things that were not earthquakes.
- It measures how hard your floor moved. It cannot measure magnitude, which belongs to the earthquake and takes a network of seismometers.
Shaking this phone felt
oursOurs. The peak comes from one phone's own accelerometer; the trigger, the thresholds and these bands are ours and uncalibrated. Not a USGS intensity and not a BMKG magnitude.
THE FLOOR UNDER ONE PHONE, NOT THE GROUND AND NOT THE EARTHQUAKE. A trigger no agency confirms is unresolved rather than false, because BMKG's running list starts at M5.0.
Sensitivity
Read on this phone and never sent anywhere. Without it the alarm still works, but we cannot tell you which published earthquake shook you.
Arming plays a test tone at your current volume, then measures this room for 60 seconds.
